“VTTV” gets an element of secrecy
The head designer at OAO “KBTM” (Transport Engineering Design Department) Igor’ Shumakov has suggested the following: closed meetings, i.e exhibitions that will only be open to specialists and not the general public by request of the government of the Russian Federation. Although, like last year, there have been no official comments on this suggestion. However, the minister of industrial, transport and communication politics Aleksandr Gorbunov has stated that “such demonstrations may occur”.
According to Mr Gorbunov the main feature that distinguishes “VTTV-Omsk-2009” from previous exhibitions is the presence of the 5th International technology conference. Two techno-scientific forums with participation from executives from the military and united industrial cooperation’s (OPK) will be included in the conference programme. They will be divided into sections: radio electronics, electronics and communications, and heavy engineering. These events will be held simultaneously at different academic centres in Omsk: SibADI, OmGUPS, and ONIIP.
Aleksandr Gorbunov informed journalists that preparation for “VTTV-2009”, the drawing up of participants and expositions started earlier than last year. More than 30 countries expressed their interest in participating in “VTTV-2009”. According to the director of MVTS “Intersib” Ivan Masliuk, 19 foreign delegations from 17 countries have voiced their interest in attending “VTTV-2009” to the regional Ministry of Industry. Another 10 countries have given verbal confirmation of their intention to participate in the exhibition; their applications are currently being processed. 78 exhibition participants and 54 national and foreign firms are registered at the moment. 30% of exhibition space has already been allocated to applicants.
The exhibition and conference section of “VTTV-2009” will be divided into several sections: “Weapons and ammunition”, “Communications. Electronics. Information Technology”, “Logistics”, “Aerospace”, and “Paratroopers. Mobile forces and vehicles”.
In the words of Ivan Masliuk, work on the conference section includes a organizing a programme of business meetings and negotiations, and agreement on the military hardware demonstration at the Svetlyi firing range. We would like to remind you that at one of the last “VTTV-2009” events it was decided to demonstrate the off-road and firepower capabilities of the military vehicles via live internet video feeds to 29 countries in the Eurasian area.
