Russian air defence gets a new addition
According to the GTRK Omsk news service, the “S-400” is the most recent development, and is currently the best anti-air and anti-rocket defence system. In terms of firepower and interference protection this Russian system is superior to its foreign equivalents, including the American “Patriot” system. The Russian vice-premier minister Sergei Ivanov confirmed this on his visit to “Almaz-Antei” air defence business, a partner of the Omsk business “Saturn”.
Several firms developed this new air-defence system. Omsk’s “Saturn” played one of the leading roles: this is where the on-board apparatus is produced. This new air-defence system will first be shown to the general public in Moscow, during the Victory Day parade. Anyone wanting to find out more about the contributions of “Saturn” to the project will be able to do so at the exhibition of defence technology and ground forces “VTTV-Omsk-2009”.
The representatives of “Saturn” will also be showing their non-military products, heat exchangers for “Kamaz” vehicles, which are essential for the factories in Naberzhnye Chelny. A third of all heat exchangers required by these factories are manufactured by “Saturn”. There will also be a display of their own-brand fuel and oil filters. A process of re-equipping has been started at the company, over the past year and a half 5 of the newest manufacturing centres have been acquired to the sum of 50 million rubles.
Both “Almaz-Altai” and “Saturn” have undertaken development programmes that will last until 2011.
