A new solvent compound is to be unveiled at the exhibition
The Omsk hydrocarbon-processing institute, a Siberian branch of the Russian academy of sciences (IPPU SO RAN) plans to unveil no less than eight innovative developments at the 8th exhibition of defense technology and ground forces “VTTV-Omsk-2009”.
According to the regional local government press, one of the main developments to be shown is “Sibsorbent” – a powder-like substance created in Omsk and prepared from organic materials (sapropelite and peat), which obviates the need for chemical reactants. The solvent is environmentally friendly and is used to clean both aqueous and solid surfaces from contamination resulting from accidental spillages of oil and oil-based products. The material can also be used as a means of cleaning oil pollution from local treatment facilities, and as a way of protecting the environment when used by the general population in everyday life. The manufacturer “Sibirskaia organika” will introduce “Sibsorbent”. The institute has also created a carbon-based material called “Karbostil”, which is used in the production of high-grade steel products, this will also be on display at “VTTV-Omsk-2009”. “Karbostil” is especially effective in the vacuum treatment of liquid metal used in the production of wire, ball bearings, and railway tracks. Another invention of IPPU-SO-RAN to be shown at the exhibition is a “carbon-based hemosorbent sterile solution”, (in other words a blood-purification solution). This substance is for medical purposes and possesses a high level of chemical purity, consists of fine granules yet a complete absence of micro particles. The sorbent is used as an in vitro blood detoxicant in such illnesses as toxicoses, severe poisoning, kidney and liver ailments, psychoneurological infections, autoimmune and skin diseases. The institute will also introduce its other developments at the exhibition in the gas, metallurgical, oil-refining and chemical industry spheres. Currently, the IPPY SO RAN consists of 4 scientific research laboratories and 2 experimental technology departments. On the basis of its scientific research, developments, and technological work, the institute takes part competes in technological and scientific projects on various levels, including by government contract. We would like to remind you that “VTTV-Omsk-2009” take place in Omsk between 2nd and 6th June.
